[Environmental Story in Media] A Common, yet Great Hero, ‘No Impact Man’

The world is full of heroes such as Iron Man, Spider Man, Super Man, and Bat Man. The hero we would like to introduce today is a bit different from these superheroes. He is a real-life figure who is trying to fight for the environment without a superpower, ‘ No Impact Man ’ . ‘ No Impact Man ’ refers to a person who does not give any impact on the earth. In the documentary film ‘ No Impact Man ’ , the main character Colin is a writer living in Manhattan, New York. He especially describes himself as an activist writer, not just writing a book. Then, how does Colin reflect his spirit on actions? He wants to contribute to the world with his work that is written based on his actual actions and experience. SEBAU Campaign Encountered on the Olle Trails in Jeju

  When the autumn sky was beautifully clear and high, Jeju Olle Walking Festival began its 23-day journey on October 23rd. As rePAPER has closely been connected with Jeju Olle Foundation for SEBAU campaign, we visited Jeju island to sponsor the festival with our environment-friendly products as well as to discuss the SEBAU campaign. After arriving at Jeju on November 13 th , rePAPER’s marketing team had a meeting for the campaign with the team of Jeju Olle Organization, president Ahn, the managing director Mr. Lee, and Mr. Ko, the researcher, at Jeju Olle Tourist Center located in Seoqwipo-si. The SEBAU campaign is intended to complete the resource circulation cycle, enhancing the value of the disposed resource that it can be a promising suggestion for those who are struggling with plastic waste. rePAPER’s Home Composting Experiment with Paper Cups!

rePAPER’s environmentally friendly coated paper, REPA COAT, is a product certified for having a home compostable property under natural conditions. rePAPER achieved the certificate by DIN CERTCO for proving that the intermediate product is both suitable for industrial composting which requires a bit higher temperature and humidity and home composting with much more harsh conditions. In order to see the extraordinary compostability of the product, we did a simple experiment in our front yard. Normally, a product made of unkraft paper is recognized to be environmentally friendly for its earth-like color. PLA-coated products also have been introduced to be easily composted in the soil. Would these be true? What outcome could we see if we actually plant the products in the garden? Let’s find out the result from rePAPER’s second composting experiment!
