Meeting CEO Cheol Yoon at Lecture For Educating Future Upcycling Experts


‘2022 Lecture For Educating Future Upcycling Experts’ was held at Seoul Upcycling Plaza last September 4.

Seoul Upcycling Plaza, located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, opened in September 2017, for fostering upcycling industries and providing civic education to practical cooperative organization of resource circulation which was created by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and managed by the Seoul Design Foundation.

At the Seoul Upcycling Plaza, you can visit the upcycling product exhibition and participate in various programs, discover new creations of unique designs made with discarded items and even make purchases of various upcycled and eco-friendly products.

Moreover, you can witness how resident companies research and manufacture upcycling products. It truly is a place dedicated for upcycling.

The '2022 Seoul Upcycling Week’ was going on when we visited for the lecture. The lobby was filled with various events and exhibitions.

Lecture For Educating Future Upcycling Experts is for the purpose of training new upcycling experts by inviting companies and experts with upcycle expertise to share their knowledge, experience and success stories of how they utilized the new materials, design and product development. The event was mainly for workers in the industry, potential entrepreneurs, and job seekers.

For this event, among rePAPER CEO Choel Yoon, CEOs from eco-friendly and upcycling-related companies in clothing, containers, building material and distribution industries were invited to give lectures for 2 days. The turnout was 70% more participants than anticipated.

Though the event was held on the weekend, the participants heedfully listened to the lecturer and the lecturers gave them the vivid actualities of the field and the industry based on their experience which met the needs of the participants.



Followed by the lecture from Yoon, there were some questions regarding the eco-friendly coating from the participants who are willing to apply the coating to their products. It was distinctive to see many of the participants were already developing and preparing for the business ideas, as the event is for the future upcycling experts.

CEO Yoon commented that “At the event, I gave a talk about the obstacles and overcoming experiences rePAPER faced as an eco-friendly start-up company to those who want to start an upcycle or recycle related eco-friendly company. And the attitude and passion participants showed were truly impressive. I am looking forward to churning out more recycling experts through education programs from Seoul Recycling Plaza.”

The program does not end with the lecture but it also has a long term start-up support consulting followed by the attentive planning of advisors.
