Meeting CEO Cheol Yoon at Lecture For Educating Future Upcycling Experts

‘2022 Lecture For Educating Future Upcycling Experts’ was held at Seoul Upcycling Plaza last September 4. Seoul Upcycling Plaza, located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, opened in September 2017, for fostering upcycling industries and providing civic education to practical cooperative organization of resource circulation which was created by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and managed by the Seoul Design Foundation. <Korea Herald Business> At the Seoul Upcycling Plaza, you can visit the upcycling product exhibition and participate in various programs, discover new creations of unique designs made with discarded items and even make purchases of various upcycled and eco-friendly products. Moreover, you can witness how resident companies research and manufacture upcycling products. It truly is a place dedicated for upcycling. There was an annual conference for paper technicians on June 22-24 organized by Korea Pulp and Korea Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry at Hotel Interciti, Daejeon. Korea Pulp and Korea Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry was established in 1967 for the purpose of exchanging and cooperating with people in academia and business to educate paper technicians and to pursue various projects, such as academic presentations and technology information collections, for the pulp and paper industry in Korea. Though this conference has been postponed a few times because of the pandemic, many people in the paper industry attended to have a meaningful time.   There was a special program held at ERICA Campus of Han Yang University on November 24 th . A class named ‘Integration of Start Up Culture and Art’ lectured by Professor Khong invited a CEO who founded a company and provided the graduate students practical advice and insights from the field. For the day, Cheol Yoon, the CEO of rePAPER, an environment-friendly paper coating solution company, was invited. Mr. Yoon shared the story of how rePAPER overcame the difficulties as a startup and how it was able to grow and cooperate with major global companies for Plastic-free. After years of experience in the paper industry, he went to the States to do an MBA and focused on the eco-friendly trend in the global market.   Korean Conformity Laboratories, KCL, held an Advisory Seminar with Experts in Paper Fields on August 11th at Golden River Hotel. The seminar brought the experts from research institutions, academics, enterprises together and shared the ideas through presentation and discussion in depth.   A testing and certification organization KCL is committed to testing, inspection, and certification of construction materials, consumer products, energy and environmental products. Recently, they have been promoting a business to establish bases to standardize specification and tests of fibers and paper products. Especially, this seminar was held to discuss establishing standards to stimulate circular economy of traditional industries and to share innovative technology.
