rePAPER’s environmentally friendly coatings RP-series are now confirmed to be compliant with GB standards, National Food Safety Standard in China. China’s New National Standards System, GB

GB, required for all the products in China, are mandatory national standards. They are the standards to evaluate a product’s safety or suitability for its functions, which is equivalent to Korea Standards(KS). GB are China’s distinctive regulations mainly corresponding to European or the United States’ testing methods and standards and a product is tested at official testing institutions, CNAS or CMA.

GB standards are different from internationally used regulations that they act as Technical Barriers to Trade. It is a kind of non-tariff barriers, protectionism, which is the economic policy of restricting imports in order to promote the growth of native businesses. Examples are import quota system which restricts the quantity of the imports of a certain product, import licensing system which asks for separate permission from the government for imports, or import surcharge that levies an additional tax or surtax on the product.
